Facebook Killed the Private Life
You live your life online — and anyone can read it. Should employers be able to troll your Facebook or MySpace page? Or should everything that you put online be accessible to anyone, anywhere? With increasingly popular social networking sites aggregating unprecedented volumes of personal data, the age-old issue of online privacy is once again rearing its ugly head. We ask NYU professor and social networking expert Clay Shirky (watch the full interview with Clay Shirky here) where to draw the line between personal and public online.

When it comes down …
When it comes down to the internetz, there is NO privacy what so ever. Even with the “private” setting turned on, it is still vulnerable to hacks & I’m pretty sure can be bypassed & viewed by people working on the Facebook servers. Simply don’t put anything up you don’t want people to know, but then again, even the not so sensitive info can still be viewed by others you don’t know. Even cops, CIA, FBI, & Corporations, etc. can get their hands on it all.

PEOPLE who upload personal and their private stuff on the internet should be aware of what they’re doing.

and young girls get …
and young girls get online and say crazy things and do wild in picture’s not thinking but this generation is all about cpu’s. Commerical’s tell parents that their 3 year old’s should have a PC…people learn from things they did months ago. Why should a employer be able to read your personal email and see if your talking to a married man? Human’s gossip. And if I can’t invade my manager’s privacy she shouldnt be able to do that to anyone else. know your rights. not the bad guy…informant

Gosh…thank you. I …
Gosh…thank you. I really hate it when people get so upset when they hear the truth. Even when you delete your info, your email’s, comments and such are in a cpu system so even when you delete your account facebook, myspace have your picture’s and the site says they have the right to give your info to employers or police who take picture’s and pretend to be people. Watch 20/20, to catch those perv’s, they steal picture’s of girl’s to trap guys. People especially teens should be allowed to grow

your right you have …
your right you have a point that they do need to know about their employees and unless we delete facebook they are going to be able to see it no matter what and that is unfair because many times its not even us who puts it on facebook it is usually one of our friends and we cant help that

they are human just …
they are human just like everyone else and the fact that they have your passwords even after you leave the company is inevasive of your privacy. Managers can be perverts who look you up everyday, just to see what you’re talking about. Humans abuse their authority. Yahoo can send your email to your boss & you dont have to save it, it goes to draft every 3 mintues. Try talking about your boss, tell her her stinks but leave it in draft….

Jaymaxx the least I …
Jaymaxx the least I can do is thank you for not being an insensitive person who harrasses people. Obviviously, some people like following people who like being followed online but, I commented here to comment because people can make comments. True my experience was personal but, I’m not special or totally beautiful. Anyone can be monitered online by their managers, and I’m saying be aware of that. Keep living but understand that future employer’s have access to your personal life
