Pretty obvious who this douchebag has been bought by. The two things that have killed the golden goose auto industry are 1) primarily the UAW, but also, 2) extravagant benefits packages for executives (and workers). Fine example of how much of a deadly leech unions are.
What’s equally appalling is that instead of letting the companies flounder and either reorganize or be bought, they got bailed out (which did nothing but waste tax dollars and encourage more of the same failed practices).

The UAW got ridiculous. The first day of hunting season is a paid day off. There’s also a guy I ran into who was bragging the other day that GM is contractually obligated to pay him almost $5,000 a month for the rest of his life and all he was doing was hanging out at the Library. Doing absolutely NOTHING! The UAW simply looked out for itself, not the community, not the future, certainly not the company. If you put nothing but paychecks before jobs, you have problems.

GM bankrupted themselves by pandering to the oil industries. Also, the American government hasn’t helped by letting their competitors import cheaper products and outsource their jobs to Chinese peasants that work for a bowl of rice a day. Stop blaming the workers for something they had no control over. Blame the greedy corporations and the idiotic government they fund. The UAW simply looks out for REAL PEOPLE. If you put profit before people, you have problems.

The UAW hasn’t contributed anything to production since the sixties. The UAW with its “going on strike at the drop of a hat and its work 2 hours get paid for eight hours mentality and the fact its been over paid and under worked for sooooo….long and with its do nothing job banks(any concession they make now, are too little too late) has bankrupted GM.

you didn’t ruin THE economy, just the American one. Most car companies are multinational now which means they get the best of both worlds. Cheap labor, and high profits. Unfortunately companies that actually invested in the U.S. and in American workers like GM and Chrysler are being blamed for being socially responsible. Personally I would take a foreign car over a domestic too, but unfortunately that just shows that America is probably doomed when it comes to the manufacturing sector

you’re an idiot. the people that ruined the auto industry are the U.S. government, the WTO, and capitalists that put profit before people and have turned the U.S. from a producing nation into a consumer nation. consumerism is all well and great if you’re rich, but you’re going to cause massive depression, unemployment, and the extinction of the middle class. American companies just want cheap labor, so the workers get the shaft and businesses move to China. Yay globalization, yay capitalism.
