Ok so now you have your blog up and running on a subject you know a lot about, you’re writing new posts daily and have also written and submitted some separate articles to ezinearticles with backlinks to your blog so Google knows about your site.

There’s no point (or way!) to make money from a blog, or to monetize it as it’s known, without having a decent amount of traffic coming to your site in the first place. At this stage it’s all about generating and attracting more and more visitors to your site. It’s only when you achieve this that you’ll stand some chance of being able to make money from your blog.

You can install Google Analytics on your blog to keep track of your visitor numbers and it’s a extremely comprehensive program giving you lots of valuable and highly usable information.

Without some kind of accurate analytics and data you’re really flying blind with your site and you won’t have any idea about how things are progressing or where to concentrate your efforts.

It’s only once we have an established blog with targeted traffic, analytics, article backlinks ECT that we think about monetizing it! Since you have a Google Blogger account and a history of updating it with great content it should be pretty easy to get approval for an Adsense account and you can apply for it from within your blog admin panel. It will install Google ads into your blog and anytime a visitor clicks on an Ad you’ll earn some money.

If you have a popular blog with lots of visitors you’ll be surprised at how much your simple blog could generate each month in revenue.

Another way to monetize your blog is through finding affiliate products to market and promote on the site. You can also install attractive colour banners to increase the likelihood of sales and depending on the topic of your blog this could be very worthwhile.

You can see that having traffic coming to your blog is really the make or break of it. There’s zero point in thinking about making money until you first create a blog which attracts people and lots of them to read about what you are writing.

There are people who generate extra or supplemental income through simply writing on their blog however it’s mostly just that – a bit of extra income. In order to stand a realistic chance of making money we need out blog to be very specific in its topic so choose one subject and stick to it. This is because we need targeted traffic arriving to the site. If you have numerous interests then start a separate blog for each one.

Be sure to title your blog with something popular which people would use to find information about your topic if there were using a search engine. For example, if my blog was about surfing I could title it ‘learn to surf’ or ‘best places to learn to surf’ ECT… in most subjects you’ll find a lot of your titles are already taken so you’ll need to do a bit of searching to find one available.

With your blog up and titled there’s just one thing to do, write and write lots. Make sure your content is good and 100% original. Each day you’ll need to update your site with new content and I would do this for at least 2 weeks before going to the next step.

Now that you have a blog with a good title and decent content being added every day it’s time to let Google know about it. For this we’re going to write some articles and submit them to either ezinearticles or goarticles. The articles will be on your blogs topic and have backlinks to your blog as this is certainly the fastest way to get indexed by search engines in their frequent ‘fresh crawls’ following links from site to site. The more articles and backlinks to your blog the better so make a habit of regularly submitting articles.
