I go to my favorite Social Networks everyday. Every hour. I can’t stop. Follow my Twitter. Become my Facebook friend. Like me! This is the world we now live in. We are all stars in each other lives via sites “like” Facebook, Twitter, and many others. We comment to impress and love to know we are heard. You love/hate these things, and so do we. You find the ever changing rules of communication maddening and so do we. You wish you had more time to do it (and more will power to quit it) and so do we.
Disagree? Why is it that real life lately is called “being offline”? Why is it that being online seems like the only real thing going? What the f**k happened to using the phone!? This was the inspiration for making Status Kill. Denton Sparks, our “hero”, is supposed to be working, but is doing what we all do when faced with work — we chat with our friends. Unfortunately Denton’s job as a professional assassin doesn’t lend itself to aimless banter (we know it’s not ALL aimless) as by being online sometimes in the middle of a firefight can lead to a quick demise, but he simply can’t help it! Denton, in all his killer perfection, has become the ultimate addict to “TweetFacester”, the world’s biggest social network, and his online life has become the center of his “offline” albeit somewhat more dangerous day job.
Status Kill is slated to be an ongoing series that will chat about all the things that we should be conscious of such as: contextual advertising, privacy, the meaning of online relationships in our REAL lives, The cost of constant intermittent communication which never actually tells us anything, sharing a profile with a grandparent, niece, and hot chick/dude you are trying to hook up with. Etc. Etc Etc. It’s all VERY confusing and Denton, the extreme version of us real world addicts, will stumble through it all while on the world’s most dangerous missions.
Denton Sparks: Soldier or online addict?
But to do so, we need your support. We understand the hypocrisy of “discussing” all that’s right and wrong about the new way of communicating by asking you all to become our fans and to follow us around the web on our silly misadventures. The truth is, we truly love our online lives, but, like everyone else, feel a bit confused and rightfully worried about where it all may go and how it is changing who we are. So, we invite you all to join us on this journey to try to figure it all out and we appreciate any and all support you give us along the way. So what are you waiting for! “Like” us on facebook, Subscribe to us on youtube, Follow us on twitter. We promise we wil love you as much as your other online friends do! Oh — Status Kill is brought to you by Jesse “Jeskid” Cowell. He created the feature film’s/series’ “Shades of Gray” and “Drawn by Pain” and won awards and stuff. He will tell you more later — he has to update his status.
http://www.UndergroundTrainingLab.com In early 2008 I spoke at the Secret Society of Traffic and Conversion Seminar for my friends Buck Rizvi and Brock Felt. The attendees paid thousands to be there but I’m sharing my 3 hour presentation from the seminar with you for free. I outlined the social networking and web 2.0 strategies that I personally use to drive tons of traffic to build my list and make more sales. http://www.BrianandKrystiHorwitz.com Social networking has become a necessity for people on a personal level and a business level. With the web 2.0 movement taking a strong hold over internet users across the globe, sites like facebook, twitter, youtube, and many others have become a staple.
As a marketer or a business owner, the question remains, Is it worth it to spend time in the social networking world online? The answer is Yes. With over 1.6 billion people online everyday there is no question that any business will benefit from this social media and social networking movement. The trick is making sure you have the right approach.
I recently wrote a blog post on how to have a successful Facebook business page (http://tr.im/zbfq). The fact is whether youre on Facebook, twitter or any other social networking sitethe rules are pretty much the same. Here are a few tips to write down that way you too can experience what it feels like to have success with social networking. Its pretty simple:
1) Be Authentic with the information youre providing
2) Let people know who you are and where youre from be human and relatable
3) PROVIDE VALUE (this is key!)
4) Get your readers, followers, audience engaged by asking questions and getting feedback
5) Create Relationships
When you put the focus on your readers rather than a marketing message, youll have a completely different experience. You will be meeting people, having real conversations and creating real relationships. When all of this happens the success will come and all of the time spent on your social networking campaign will be more than worth it.
Online social networking communities have developed into their own social networking communities bonded online much like they are offline, beyond what the corporations who purchased the technology conceived of. A corporation’s intention is to make money but a whole new phenomenon has developed that is the germ of a social revolution. Corporations provide only the technical platform (at colocation centers) and should make reasonable money off these networks, but if the participants in these sites want some control of decisions about how these communities operate on these corporations platforms, they need to understand the nature of corporations. We will see communities develop on sites such as YouTube, MySpace, Facebook and some not yet known, and that these communities can relocate across platforms.

What would a news reader look like if Apple had designed it? Flipboard shows you. It takes your Facebook friends’ messages, or Tweets from Twitter, and lays them out in a magazine format. But that doesn’t do justice. This makes reading news from Social Networks fun because of the aesthetics. You have to see this to get an idea of why this app could disrupt news and publishing businesses.
